New publication by Leemann, Kolly, Purves, Britain, and Glaser on using smartphone apps for crowdsourcing language change

Former IVS postdoc Adrian Leemann, current IVS PhD student Marie-José Kolly, and colleagues from UZH and the University of Bern published a paper in PLOS ONE on how smartphone apps can be used to crowdsource language change. Data from nearly 60’000 users revealed relative stability of phonetic phenomena in Swiss German dialects while lexical variants seemed more prone to change.
