In this talk at the 6th International Conference on Kurdish Linguistics, Kellen Van Dam and Shuan Osman Karim present findings of an apparent isogloss within Northern Kurdish which distinguishes varieties having word-level prominence marking based on pitch, similar to that of Turkish, and those without. Contact with Turkish is posited as the influencing factor for the development, not found elsewhere in Kurdish languages.
