We are interested in the effects of usage-based and sociolinguistic factors on patterns of language evolution, with a focus on phonological and morphological change.
We use a diverse array of methods and tools to address questions in this domain of research.
Our research group is organized around the four-year SNSF grant "Evolving Paradigms: Quantitative and Computational Approaches to Analogical Change," which is geared towards better understanding the conditions under which certain types of morphological change are more likely to occur.
