Talk by Borja Herce at IMM22 on 'Predicting person-number syncretism in Romance: Source vs functional constraints'
On June 18th, Borja will present research, based on data from the Atlante Italo-Svizzero, exploring whether the collapse of person and number values in verbal conjugation is better predicted from the semantic similarity of the values themselves or by the accidentally inherited morphological idiosyncrasies of the ancestral language Latin. His talk will take plate at the 22nd International Morphology Meeting.
